Mrs Elodie Chollet, veterinarian & chief insemination center – IMV AI glove testimonial

24.04.2018

“We decided to start using the wide range of Polysem gloves in 2002 because of their comfort, tactile sensitivity and durability (hygiene is essential for the type of medical procedures we perform). I recommend them for artificial inseminations and all other veterinary gynecology procedures. I recommend the Copolymer glove for palpations, transrectal searches, ultrasound scans, colic and gynecological procedures because the tactile sensitivity and freedom of hand are maintained, while guaranteeing flawless tightness. The Polytactyl glove is thicker and we generally use it as an “overglove”. We like it because it is very strong.

Lastly, we use the sterile Polytactyle glove for artificially inseminating our mares and for specific gynecologic examinations (bacteriology, cytology and uterine biopsy). When I carry out inseminations and collect embryos, I use it with the “double glove” technique. This consists in putting a Polytactyl glove on top of the first sterile Polytactyl glove. I cut off the hand part of this “overglove” and hold the rest of it with my hand in the first glove when passing through the vulva and the vestibule. I then release it so that it rides up my arm as my hand gradually progresses up the vagina of the mare. I place the AI probe between the two gloves to guarantee perfect hygiene. I like this sterile Polytactyl glove because of its length and shape, which are well suited to use for gynecological examinations. It enables you to work comfortably while having optimum protection all along your arm. A sterile glove is essential for equine inseminations, embryo collections and diagnostic procedures (cyto-bacteriological) and this is the only sterile glove available on the market.”
